Foreign applicants who are from non-English speaking countries, but willing to enroll in English language courses, are required to provide evidence of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) examination with minimum score of 61 iBT or its equivalent (6 IELTS, 173CBT, or 500PBT) for the all degree programs offered in the University prior to the Enrollment in English language course(s). Applicant who do not have the required TOEFL score will be required to take an English-Language placement test administered on WCU. For applicants who successfully completed at least Two (2) Academic Years (60-semester/90- quarter credit units) at baccalaureate level education in an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or an equivalent educational institution in other countries that teaches in the English language, the English proficiency requirement may be waived.
To apply for F-1 status, all non-US students must submit official documents that demonstrate their ability to pay for education and living expenses in the United States of America for a minimum of one year. All costs are approximate and subject to change without notice.
Additional Expenses for Dependents. You must add an additional $3,000.00 USD if a spouse will accompany you. You must add an additional $3,000.00 for each child that will accompany you.
Alternatively, students can provide an official letter from their bank officer on bank letterhead stating their name, account #, and sufficient account balance in USD. An acceptable statement may come from the student’s personal checking or savings account. Acceptable documentation cannot be more than six months old.
Students sponsored by a parent, relative, friend, or government need two documents. First a copy of the sponsor's bank statement showing sufficient funds. The sponsor's name must be on the bank account.
